No-Till Seed Drill Rental Program

South Yakima CD has provided our No-Till Drill Rental Program to local landowners for over 25 years. No-Till drills allow seed to be planted with minimum soil disturbance, which helps reduce dust, maintain soil structure, improve water infiltration, and many other soil health benefits. They are not meant to be used in soil that has been recently tilled, disked, or otherwise worked up.

The drills are extremely popular during spring and fall, so please call early to reserve! Drills are available for landowners within about 55 miles from the district office. If you are not within a 55-mile radius of the office but are interested in renting a drill, please call our office as we may be able to make an exception.

Aitchison Grass Rancher

The Aitchison is our oldest drill. This mid-size drill is intended for seeding directly into existing pastures/crop fields.

7'-foot planting width with 6"-inch row spacing
9'-foot 3"-inch total width
Requires min. 40-50 HP tractor with three-point connection
- There are some exceptions to this rule. Give us a call if you aren't sure.
2"-inch ball required for road transport

A charge of $10 per acre + $100 refundable damage deposit is required. Minimum rental charge is $10.

Great Plains 1006NT

Our largest drill has a 10'-foot planting width. Its three seed boxes have the ability to plant three different seeds at once.

The rental rate for the Great Plains drill is $20 per acre plus a $200 refundable deposit. Mimimum rental charge of $25.

Great Plains 3P606NT

The GP 606NT is our newest drill and was purchased in 2023. This drill is intended for seeding tight spaces, ideal for planting cover crops in orchards and vineyards. It may also be used to plant open spaces.
